It all begins back in 2004 when most of the worries were about who would be having the high school party on the weekends & how we were going to make it through another year of school. Rocio ended up in Celina, Ohio of all places with her foreign exchange student program. The cute little Spanish girl had no idea what life all had in store for her.
Nick was a student in Mrs. Black’s English class where he got to see Rocio everyday. They caught each other’s eyes and quickly became friends. Only friends who managed to sneak a little flirting between Mrs. Black’s lessons. Nick still teases Rocio about how she used to invite him to have dinner at her host family’s restaurant. Foolish Nick never took Rocio up on that date.
The school year ended, back to Spain Ro went. She studied her way through another six years of schooling while Nick carried on his life in the States. They remained casual friends over those six years. Rocio was in the middle of a busy senior year when Nick’s family decided to take a vacation to Europe. Who better to ask for advice then the adorable Rocio? Five minute conversations about the trip quickly progressed into five hour long conversations about more important things.
After Nick’s visit to Europe, one trip leads to another. As soon as Rocio finished up the school year she knew she wanted to move back to Celina. Their summer quickly went by not knowing what the future would hold. They both knew what they wanted and that was a life together. Lots of phone calls to the lawyers and piles of paper work they received the news they needed…
Nick & Rocio were married January 6, 2012 at the Court House in Celina in a small ceremony surrounded by their friends & Nick’s family. The following summer they made the trip back over to Spain to celebrate their love with Rocio’s friends and family.
Fast-forward three and half years since Rocio finally decided to move back to Celina and I managed to get them in front of my camera for their first “real” photos together. I am honored that I was able to document your love for each other and that more importantly I consider you both my friends!
To end this special blog post with some words from Rocio “Now 3 years after everything started, we can say we are very happy. Leaving everything behind for someone is not always easy and it takes a lot of effort but much more love than anything else.”
what a sweet love story with a happy ending!
