Why you’re not seeing my Facebook Post

Remember a few years back when you could not get on Facebook without seeing someone who shared a status detailed how Facebook was going to make us pay? Fortunately those never (and will never) come true, at least not for the people of Facebook. The small businesses like myself that use Facebook as a major form of advertising are in for a rude awakening.

I have loved being able to share my images on there, the clients were able to quickly share it with their family & friends and I was able to gain hundreds, if not thousands, of extra people viewing my work. It was a photographers dream. All that is very different now and will only continue to get worse. Facebook is “forcing” small business owners to pay to advertise. Without us actually taking a hit in the wallet they only allow our post to reach a very small number of our followers.

I worked hard for all 1,625 of you who took time to like my page and consistently view & comment on my work. Facebook is not everything though and I have consistently placed importance on providing high quality prints to my clients. It will always be more important to have actual tangible photos to look back on since what we post to a website can we taken down at any moment. Once we share things on there, they are not really ours anymore.

I have been taking classes on how to control my work once it is shared on the internet. The best way is to post to a website that you have control over; my blog is the perfect example of it. I get to control what is posted & how it is shared. In the past few months I have placed a lot of emphasize on consistent blogging so my clients know when they can check in for new work. I share normally every Tuesday & Thursday.

I would usually follow up by posting a link on my Facebook page, that link would reach into the thousands and is now barely getting 400 views. What about the other 1,200 of you who have like Elizabeth Ann Photography .

In an attempt to better reach and connect with my clients I have launched an email program! It is very simple you just opt in and once a week the Internet will deliver an email featuring that week’s blog post. It will also have upcoming news including mini sessions, open availability, seasonal products, and cool tips for photographing with your camera & how to maintain the images you already have hanging on your walls.

I am featuring a little giveaway to go with signing up my email list the rules are simple. Sign up to receive Elizabeth Ann Photography’s emails, like us on Facebook, and share the post on your page to reach more of your friends & families. A winner will be picked on April 25, 2014 and it can be used for any of the follow sessions family, children, senior, maternity, & newborn. Session will last one hour and all images will be displayed in an online gallery!
